Having purchased a two-bedroom bungalow in Miskin, near Llantrisant in South Wales, Steve and Amy Owen contacted Alliance Loft Conversions with their plans to transform the property into a four bedroom dorma-bungalow with a large open plan living space created within the loft.
Their plan was to re-arrange the property with a large kitchen-diner and living room upstairs and four bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs. With Steve dreaming of enjoying the splendid view from upstairs whilst enjoying a coffee and croissant at breakfast time, and Amy looking forward to a large walk-in wardrobe downstairs it was clear they both had their heart set on creating their dream home.
The Alliance Loft Conversions team, headed up by Martin Bromfield, built the structure of the loft by creating a complete new roof which was taller and wider than the existing pitched bungalow roof. Alliance Loft Conversions handled all the necessary planning applications with the local authority, produced the architectural drawings, consulting owners Steve and Amy at every stage.
The new roof incorporated structural steel beams, three dormer windows at the front of the property and one very large dormer at the rear including a large concertina door overlooking the back garden and the views beyond. This was to be the main feature of the new loft, and certainly made the room into a splendid living space.
Alliance Loft Conversions completed Steve and Amy’s new home within budget and time, despite poor weather conditions during the project. They are both extremely proud of their new upstairs living space and love showing it off to friends and family!
